Programme Strategy

The Swim Enfield Athlete Pathways

Three dedicated Athlete  Pathways allow Swim Enfield to align our programme strategy with the Swim England and British Swimming philosophies in their entirety. They enable Swim Enfield to facilitate swimming for all standards from our dedicated Learn-to-Swim programmes in our Swim Enfield Phoenix and Griffins Houses, right up to National and International competition. Our coaching philosophy and programme encompasses all age groups, from the pre-schooler  through to veteran Masters Athletes.

Mainstream Competitive

The backbone of Swim Enfield is the ‘Mainstream Pathway’. This journey allows our athletes to develop their technical skills, fitness levels and to pursue competitive development and success without the strict commitment that the ‘Performance Pathway’ will require and demand.

The Mainstream Pathway affords  athletes enthusiastic coaches, progressive training plans, and regular competition opportunities, and selection is based on age, commitment, competition and attitude criteria.

Performance

The ‘Performance Pathway’ is for those athletes who dream of competitive success and have the performance standards, willingness to commit and the drive to engage with demanding training and competition programmes.

The Coaching Team selects individual athletes for the Performance Pathway based on strict training and competition criteria. Selection is based on a combination of age, performance, commitment, competition and suitable attitude criteria.

Fitness

The ‘Fitness Pathway’ is for individuals who are  keen to improve their swimming skills, continue to develop their fitness standards and socialise without competitive expectations. Swimmers may compete, provided they meet the required performance standards. The Swim Enfield Fitness Squads are open to all competent swimmers and selection is based on age.

Masters

Situated atop all three Pathways, the Masters Squad is there to support athletes into adulthood.  The programme is suitable for competitive athletes as well as individuals seeking to maintain an active lifestyle.
